*NeviNakuta, I have never critiqued a piece of art before and I have decided to make you my first! Bare in mind that I will be open and honest and nothing I say should offend you in any way. So, without further ado.
Firstly, I'd just like to say that I do really enjoy looking at this peice. I love the bold yellow and reds in combination with the earthen brown and black trimmings. The soft lighting is appealing to the eyes, and this, in connection with the use of hard shading, defines the shadows and highlights in a very natural way.
The pose is balanced, although it does lack movement. The movement is suggested by the shaping of the hair and the activity of the coffee in the coffee cup, but it is not followed through by the character. I think this is mostly due to the shoulders. In their current position they show tension in the character whereas a pose such as this should be loose and relaxed.
I would say the torso is quite long, however the overall pleasing aesthetics of this piece cancel out any minor anatomical flaws. That said, the more I look at the bending leg, the more I judge the foot to be at an odd angle. But I personally struggle with that particular pose and perspective and I wouldn't know how to address this issue, therefore I should not worry about this too much.
The lack of a background does not bother me. The reason for this picture is the character and I do not think the addition of a background would make any difference to the aesthetics of the piece.
This is anime/manga as I like to see it. Well drawn, not overly in-proportionate and most of all, cute. While it is difficult to gauge originality when it comes to character design, I would definitely say that your general artwork (if all is up to this standard) is worth the +watch and I hope to see your style develop in the future.
Your artwork is so cute, albeit simple. A quick trip to your gallery may just earn you a new watcher Also, I am wondering, (judging from your lines) if the line work is drawn traditionally and then digitally coloured?
